Nell attempts to restart her life in a new place with a new job and a new roommate. She begins writing obituaries at the local paper and starts getting life advice from an unlikely source.

As Nell tries to settle into her new job, she gets increasingly annoyed by her latest ghost. Meanwhile, Edward works on a project that sparks Nell’s journalistic curiosity.

Nell is asked to write an obituary for a popular influencer with whom she has history. Elsewhere, Sam helps Dennis overcome an old fear.

Nell’s friends rally to set her up on some dates, but Nell isn’t sure she’s ready to move on. Edward has better luck finding a match.

After Nell falls for the wrong guy, she realizes her last relationship may be holding her back. Meanwhile, Edward helps Cricket decide that what’s missing from the bar is a bit of her past.

Lexi puts Sam in charge of the newspaper’s food and wine festival, making Nell jealous of their friendship. At the event, Edward helps Cricket with her booth and Dennis lets off some marital steam.

Nell’s father comes to visit. Meanwhile, Lexi conducts the employees’ yearly performance review at the SoCal Independent.

Nell finally meets Edward’s girlfriend. Meanwhile at the wine bar, Cricket hosts trivia night.

With Nell’s help, Cricket decides to finally spread Monty’s ashes. Sam and Lexi support Dennis as he chooses an egg donor.

After a fun night out with Sam and Dennis, Nell winds up sick in bed and wanting to be left alone. Meanwhile, Lexi convinces Sam and Dennis to join her for lunch, which spirals into a much longer commitment.

After months of processing her relationship with Phillip, Nell tells Sam she's ready to move on. Sam tries to recapture her spark with her husband. Lexi helps Dennis search for the perfect egg donor.

Nell agrees to see Phillip, hoping for closure. Sam and Lexi have a joint birthday party for their daughters.

Nell holds a dinner party at her house and Dennis has to make a potentially life-altering decision.

Lexi's father and owner of the SoCal Independent, Duncan Rhodes, comes into the office and forms a bond with Nell, much to his daughter's dismay.

After receiving some truth from Cricket on Valentine's Day, Nell realizes she may be using ghosts as an excuse to not open herself up to love.

Lexi, Duncan, Sam and Dennis attend an award ceremony for several SoCal Independent editing nominations. Meanwhile, Nell steps in to babysit Sam's daughter, who doesn't seem interested in hanging out with her "fun Aunt Nell."

Lexi combines the first two floors of the newsroom, leaving Nell to share a cubicle with T.J., a popular sportswriter who’s friends with everyone… except her.

When Nell's latest ghost is convinced that there was foul play involved in his death, Nell is happy to try to investigate until Lexi inserts herself into the case.

Nell grows frustrated with Lexi and Edward's relationship; the newsroom staff pulls an all-nighter.
